About Us
I didn't start a coffee company because I loved coffee. I started it because I kept getting let down by it. For years I drank whatever was on the shelf, and most mornings it did nothing for me. Flat grounds, stale bags, a first sip that tasted like an obligation. As a parent of two and a full time professional, coffee isn't a ritual for me, it's fuel. When it doesn't work, the day starts behind schedule. So I did something about it.
I stopped waiting for someone to sell me the coffee I actually wanted and went and found it myself. And then figured, why keep it to myself? I wasn't the only one starting the day on a bad cup. I found what I was looking for with small roasters in California and New Jersey who source carefully and roast in small batches. We don't roast until you order. Your coffee goes from green bean to your front door in about five days, faster if you catch us at a pop up. My first order arrived and I could smell it through the bag before I even opened it. That's the standard now. If it doesn't earn its place in my own kitchen, it doesn't go in the shop.
Nine AM Roast is for doers. The parent whose kids are up at 5 on a Saturday and still has a full day ahead. The person with an ambitious week and no room for a slow start. The runner getting a clean lift before a long one. The person who closes out dinner with an espresso because they've still got more to do. Different mornings, same requirement, coffee that actually works.
Most people ask why. I ask why not. Why not have the good stuff on a Tuesday. Why not build the thing you wish existed. Why not start the day with something that does its job. That's how this business exists, and it's the standard I hold every bag to. We're online now, and we're taking Nine AM Roast into markets, pop ups, and local events this year, because the best way to prove a cup of coffee is to put it in someone's hand. Don't ask why. Ask why not, you deserve it.
